Joseph Robinette Biden Jr is the President-elect of the United States, after defeating Donald Trump in the 2020 US presidential election; he will be inaugurated as the 46th president on January 20, 2021.

Joe Biden’s victory awakens hope for African cooperation. Several African heads of state have sent their congratulations to Joseph Robinette Biden Jr, the winner of the decisive step in the process leading to the post of President of the United States of America.

The election of Joe Biden as President of the United States elicits overwhelmingly positive reactions on the African continent.

Joe Biden focused his African vision in a campaign document. He plans to interact with the continent in two ways. On the one hand, it is a question of facilitating the social, cultural and professional integration of the African Diasporas currently living in the United States. The other and most important action will concern direct cooperation with the continent.

In this regard, it is affirmed, that Joe Biden will renew the respectful commitment of the United States to Africa with a bold strategy which reaffirms a commitment to support democratic institutions on the continent; promote lasting peace and security; promote economic growth, trade and investment; and support sustainable development”.

"Urubuga rw’Itangazamakuru" (Club de la Presse) of this Sunday 11-15-2020 broadcasted in synergy by ten radio stations across the country and a Television (TV Isango star) focused on "The presidential elections in the USA: what does Africa expect?”

The guests:

1. Dr. Ismael BUCHANAN / University Lecturer

2. Rev. Cedric KANANA / Analyst

3. John William NTWALI / Journalist

Guests said that the US election has increased tension since the debate between President Donald Trump and Joe Biden, confirming the weakness of Donald Trump's Republican representative. And above all Trump is accused of never sufficiently protecting his population from Covid -19. This defeat has strengthened Trump opposition.

Analysts point out that Joe Biden's choice of immigrant V / P was a good way to win the hearts of immigrants and support Democrats

As for what Africa expects from Joe Biden, guests said it's always difficult because Democrats have their own politics for the benefit from foreign countries, often sparking wars to achieve them. But rather that Trump has made Africa thrive because his policies were so focused on the U.S. economy and other internal issues in the country that Africans are wary of working and defending themselves because of his contempt for the so-called dirty continent

The guests concluded that it is difficult for Africa to trust the benefits of this mandate, and especially that many western leaders promise African leaders that they will cooperate well but they finally deceive them.
